One of the key roles on our team is our Group Benefits Internal Pricing Specialist. These professionals are highly motivated individuals who partner with our sales staff. It's not just about calculating numbers at The Principal Financial Group. With specialized knowledge in group employee benefit products and underwriting/pricing guidelines, our group benefits internal pricing specialists work directly with brokers and sales reps to understand a customer's unique needs. With their attention to detail, business savvy and high customer service mentality, they provide a complete pricing and competitive positioning of benefit proposals to the sales team. As a member of this team, they have the ability to impact the following:

- Assist in achieving company sales goals.
- Build relationships with both internal and external sales force.
- Provide support through the delivery of sales ideas and product positioning.

To be successful in this role, professionals will need:
- Strong mathematical skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage a large volume within a high paced sales-oriented environment
- Ability to think creatively in order to provide client solutions


Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2-4 years of experience required (experience with an insurance carrier working directly with group benefits preferred).
Must obtain Life & Health licenses within 3 months and apply for required non-resident licenses.
Must maintain licenses by meeting continuing education requirements.
Requires broad understanding/ maintaining knowledge of insurance operations, products, and concepts with the ability to apply marketing strategies and systems.
Requires strong planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
Must have good oral and written communication skills plus the ability to develop effective relationships and motivate producer behavior.
Must have excellent computer and keyboarding skills.
Must have excellent/mastery level Excel skills as well as MicroSoft Office knowledge.
Must work well under pressure and be self-directed.
Some travel may be required including overnight stays (5%).
