Principal Global Investors will host multiple students from May 2014 through early January 2015 in our Fixed Income Department. During your internship you will work closely with members of our high yield, portfolio management, emerging markets, total return, or fundamental teams. During your time with us you will assist the team with strategy, price change, and attribution reports. You will also help with maintaining our watch list and ensuring the data integrity of our investment holdings. As your familiarity with our strategy increases, you will be given opportunities to assist with sector coverage, monthly presentations and improving our current processes. Other functions you may assist with are:
-Manage and assist the analysts in preparing Commercial Paper Reviews
-Assisting the traders with aligning portfolios
-Running specific daily, weekly, and quarterly reporting requirements for traders and analysts
-Improving, streamlining, and documenting existing processes
-Assisting with sector coverage
-Direct interaction with clients and/or Bloomberg representatives

|Applicants must be currently pursuing a degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related major. Completion of intermediate level coursework in investments is required. This position requires strong attention to detail so a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. Additional exposure to investment concepts through involvement in student organizations or work experiences is also preferred. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally are essential in this role.
